Maine state government websites were ranked third for "readability," fifth for accessibility for the disabled, and fifth for providing online services to the public, in an annual Brown University study of state government websites. The study evaluated a sampling of over 30 websites for each state. "Readability" measured the average reading level of the content on websites; Maine was praised for making government information more available to average citizens.
