Role, Scope, and Mission Statement: The primary service area of Northeast Louisiana University (NLU) includes a 13-parish area in northeast Louisiana bordered by the states of Arkansas and Mississippi. NLU is an open admissions institution which serves the undergraduate needs of this population primarily through offerings in the humanities, liberal arts, and sciences, and places an emphasis on undergraduate professional programs in business, communications, criminal justice, education, and the health sciences. Graduate programs below the doctoral level are offered primarily in biology, business administration, communications, education, and select health-related areas.
