Kentucky State Police: News Release Date of Release: 05/04/05 (FRANKFORT, Ky.)- Motorists traveling in and around Louisville during the Kentucky Derby this weekend need to keep a close eye on their odds while on the road. Kentucky Library News Digest - Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives Students free books into the 'wild' for literacy (Wendy Turner's sophomore advanced English students at Paul Laurence Dunbar have purposely abandoned books or “released” them into the "wild" through an international program called BookCrossing.com. There is also an opportunity to give feedback on its contents, letting the owner know the book has been "caught." Dozens of Turner's 82 students have jumped on board with the program. There's an added incentive: they receive extra credit for each book they register. The idea for BookCrossing.com began in 2001 with Ron Hornbaker, the president and CTO of the Web site's parent company, Humankind Systems. 2005 Fishing Prospects at Selected Missouri Lakes and Streams This popular 1,000 acre reservoir just east of Maryville will continue to provide excellent angling opportunities for many species in 2005. Largemouth bass densities are still very high in Mozingo Lake. Spring electrofishing in 2004 did reveal however, that the number fish over 15 inches continues to improve, showing that the 12-15” protected slot is working. By allowing and encouraging the harvest of fish less than 12”, the remaining bass should continue to exhibit increased growth rates, resulting in higher catch rates of desirable-sized bass. Fish the submersed brush piles, rocky points, and rip rap banks to find fish. Crappie fishing in Mozingo Lake is second only to bass in popularity, and 2005 looks to be no different. Limits of crappie from 9 to 15 inches are common for those anglers targeting the tasty panfish.
