City of Terre Haute | Economic Development
The lion's share of community development projects that are initiated by the Department of Redevelopment occur within the boundaries of the City of Terre Haute. The City of Terre Haute is classified as an "entitlement" city by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Each year, the Department of Redevelopment receives Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding from HUD for activities targeted to (a.) benefit low and moderate-income persons; (b.) address issues regarding slums and blight or (c.) rectify an urgent need. The majority of the Department's CDBG funds are spent on infrastructure (streets, curbs, sidewalks, storm sewers and so forth) projects in low and moderate-income neighborhoods. City of Terre Haute | Parks Department
Terre Haute is home to 23 city parks of various sizes, from small block parks to neighborhood parks to community parks. In addition, our park system includes two municipal golf courses, William S Rea, and Hulman Links. Terre Haute also has three municipal swimming pools as well, one in Deming park, Sheridan and Voorhees. One of the most exciting additions to the Terre Haute park system is the National Road Heritage Trail, representing the first of several greenway corridor trails that will ultimately comprise a green water corridor network for the City of Terre Haute, Vigo County, and west Central Indiana. This trail along with the Fairbanks Park River walk, will establish a 7.25 mile greenway corridor, running parallel to U.S. 40, from eastern Vigo County, through the City of Terre Haute's central core, ending at the Wabash river. The 5 and a half mile, first phase of the trail, from the Twiggs Rest area, to 13th and Spruce street has fast become a popular and much utilized area, for ... [Read More]

City of Terre Haute | City Councilman | Richard Dunkin
My vision for the future of Terre Haute is a city run by community minded leaders with no personal agenda or ulterior motive. A local body working in unison with all governmental entities and doing what is best for the community whether it is ultimately popular or not. Years of taking the path of least resistance also know as the "Cheapest" route has failed to advance our community. However, with the new spirit of cooperation to move forward, Terre Haute and Vigo County has not been more favorably positioned for success in years. ... [Read More]
