The Office of Health Care Regulation is responsible for assuring that a high quality of care is provided by health facilities within the State. Bloomington, Illinois – A crow submitted from McLean County on Monday, June 6th for testing has been confirmed positive by the Illinois Department of Public Health for the presence of the West Nile virus. The crow was collected from the south side of Bloomington on June 3rd and tested at the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine at Urbana-Champaign. This is the first bird to be confirmed positive for West Nile virus in McLean County this year and follows a positive bird found in Woodford County earlier this spring.
