Thecall-in Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) of the Idaho State Bar was established tohelp members of the Idaho public find an attorney in a specific field of law inan area of the state convenient to them. Thereferral service staff can’t answer legal questions or give legal advice, butwe will give callers the name of one attorney in their vicinity for thespecified area of law. We do notgive out lists of attorneys. Areferral to a lawyer is free to the caller, but the legal service is not free. Under special provisions of the Idaho State Bar and Supreme Court Rules, a fundhas been created to compensate clients for all or part of any losses caused by the " dishonest "conduct of a lawyer admitted to practice in Idaho. Under the program, fees are paid by alllawyers throughout the state to assist in compensating members of the public for an Idaholawyer's dishonest conduct when the claimant has no other recourse to recoup the loss."Malpractice" is not necessarily dishonest conduct, and the distribution offunds is limited to victims of " dishonest " actions.
