IDAHO SUPREME COURT JUSTICE
Justice Eismann has hada long interest in trying to improve the criminal justice system and the legalsystem. As a magistrate judge, JusticeEismann was a member of the Region III Council for Children and Youth; hehelped create Children’s Voices, Inc., an organization to recruit, train, andoversee guardians ad litem to represent the interests of neglected and abusedchildren in court proceedings; he organized and served upon a communitydiversion board in Canyon County to handle outside the judicial systemfirst-time juvenile offenders who committed minor crimes; and he chaired theCanyon County Juvenile Justice Task Force. While both a magistrate and district judge, Justice Eismann served eightyears on the Bar Exam Preparation Committee for the Idaho Bar Association, andhe currently serves on board of the Idaho State Bar Lawyers Assistance Program,which provides assistance to lawyers with substance abuse problems, and of theIdaho Law Foundation. Under special provisions of the Idaho State Bar and Supreme Court Rules, a fundhas been created to compensate clients for all or part of any losses caused by the " dishonest "conduct of a lawyer admitted to practice in Idaho. Under the program, fees are paid by alllawyers throughout the state to assist in compensating members of the public for an Idaholawyer's dishonest conduct when the claimant has no other recourse to recoup the loss."Malpractice" is not necessarily dishonest conduct, and the distribution offunds is limited to victims of " dishonest " actions.
