INEEL - News Desk - $1 million in scholarships awarded at 2005 Hispanic Youth Symposium The Hispanic Youth Symposium was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, Idaho National Laboratory, Gem State Diversity Initiatives, state agencies and employers. Participating colleges and universities were Albertson College of Idaho, Boise State University, BYU-Idaho, College of Southern Idaho, Eastern Idaho Technical College, Idaho State University, Lewis-Clark State College, Northwest Nazarene University, University of Idaho and Utah State University. Several College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) scholarships were awarded. Also, Si Se Puede scholarships were awarded to promising students by Gem State Diversity Initiatives ($1,000 to seniors and $500 to juniors). The Bonner Leaders Program (BLP) is designed to heighten the overall educational experience of college students by providing "access to education and an opportunity to serve". The BLP affords college students an opportunity to use their energy, talents and leadership to engage in community service while providing developmental and financial support. Students engage in ongoing service work and leadership training to enhance tools and knowledge necessary to make their service more meaningful. Students may combine their work-study position (although a work-study award is not necessary to participate) with a Bonner Leader Position at the University of Idaho, Idaho State University or BYU-Idaho. Seismic Networks - INEEL Seismic Monitoring Program - Geosciences Research INEEL exchanges data inreal-time with several nearby seismic networks using the U.S. GeologicalSurvey’s EARTHWORM program. INEEL records earthquake data from seismicstations owned and operated by BYU-Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho, Montana Bureau ofMines and Geology in Butte, Montana, the University of Utah Seismograph Stationsin Salt Lake City, Utah, and the National Earthquake Information Center inGolden, Colorado. INEEL also provides data from some its seismic stations tothese seismic networks.
