Idaho Fish and Game - Fishing
In response to anglers’ requests for more family-oriented fishing opportunities and simplified rules, Fish and Game has developed Family Fishing Water regulations. In these areas there are year-around seasons, a general six-fish limit for trout, bass, walleye and pike and no bag limit on other species. There are no length limits or tackle requirements. ...

Idaho is famous for its fishing. More than 10 world-class blue-ribbon wild trout streams, including the Henrys Fork, Silver Creek and the St. Joe River, are scattered throughout the state. Many other high-quality trout streams exist that don’t get the headlines and the crowds. Idaho’s rugged mountains contain more than 1,500 high mountain lakes with good trout fishing. Idaho's Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategy
State wildlife agencies are the backbone of our nation's wildlife conservation. United States laws and policies place the primary responsibility for implementing wildlife management programs in the hands of the 50 states, but effective management and conservation depends upon a partnership with Congress to provide consistent and adequate funding to the states. For decades, federal funding to the states in the form of excise taxes on arms and ammunition (Pittman-Robertson Federal Aid to Wildlife Restoration Act of 1937) and fishing equipment (Dingell-Johnson Federal Aid to State Fisheries Act of 1950 and Wallop-Breaux Act of 1984), has focused primarily on-and has been largely responsible for-enormously successful programs that ensure the conservation and sustainable use of important wildlife species hunted or fished by the millions of sportsmen and women across America. There has, however, been a serious gap in both state and federal funding for the many species of fish and wildlife no ... [Read More]
