The ICEE was founded in 1970 at the University of Idaho, and has been hosted by Boise State University since 1972. Outreach is conducted in cooperation with centers at CSI, ISU, BSU, UI, and NIC. As an operating unit in the College of Business and Economics, the Council's mission is to promote and to improve economic and personal finance education in Idaho's K-12 schools. The Council works collaboratively with the Colleges of Education to prepare teachers to pass along knowledge to their future students on becoming responsible citizens, productive members of the workforce and knowledgeable consumers and investors. On a national level, ICEE is accredited by the National Council on Economic Education, and affiliated with its 270 other councils and university-based centers for Economic Education.
