The blue whale was very exciting because it is the first confirmed blue whale sighting in Gulf of Alaska waters since the whaling days (30+ yrs). Thousands were hunted in this area historically. Now they may be reintroducing themselves! Two more blue whales were seen the following day, reconfirming our first sighting! One of the blue whales may even be the same animal that was previously sighted off of Santa Barbara, California. ... Aloha. We are still excited about the sightings of blue whales!
