Nelson Acoustical Engineering . Auditory Demonstrations II was developed primarily as a vehicle to further low-noise advocacy within NASA’s space flight (and ground-support) programs, it was developed with the intention and expectation that it would be of broad applicability in the larger technical community. The demonstrations are intended as tools with which engineers, architects, policymakers, and health care professionals may accurately and tangibly assess the true cost of communication interference due to noise and hearing loss. Armed with Laura Lemay's Teach Yourself Web Publishing in a Week and my slow but reliable 286, I dove into the world of HTML programming in ASCII. My first product was remarkably boring, resembling one of our library handouts. Fortunately, Web pages are infinitely revisable. With some tweaks and the introduction of a few links, the page evolved into a much more user-friendly site. It includes the basics, such as faculty names, numbers, hours and a link to our OPAC. But it also includes links to many resources that we use regularly to answer reference questions - lists of publishers, other major library OPACs, several news services, a document delivery source, an online bookstore and music store and several search engines. Joanne Tarpley Crotts presently serves as Interim Dean of the Library. Earning her MLS from Catholic University in Washington D.C. in 1983, Joanne moved to Guam in 1986 where she worked at the Guam Territorial Law Library and Guam Public Library. In 1991, she joined the faculty of the University of Guam. Joanne is active in local and regional library associations and in promoting resource sharing. She has served as the Treasurer and Membership Coordinator for the Pacific Islands Association of Libraries and Archives (PIALA) and recently compiled and edited A Union List of Serials in Libraries of Guam and Micronesia.
