A Synthesis of Historical Data on Guam's Reefs: Substantial historical data exist for Guam's coral reefs. The University of Guam Marine Laboratory was established in 1970, and since has produced over 100 technical reports, 30 Environmental Surveys, and 400 published Contributions in the primary literature. The Guam Coastal Management Program (CZM), the Guam Environmental Protection Agency and the Guam Division of Aquatic and Wildlife Resources have also performed numerous studies on Guam's coastal waters. Much of this valuable information is buried in the "gray literature," and is difficult to find. In many cases, quantitative data are presented in inconsistent formats, and are hard to interpret for use as baseline information for identifying change.
