The circular Seal of the State of Colorado is an adaptation of the Territorial Seal which was adopted by the First Territorial Assembly on November 6, 1861. The patience of Henry Brown now wore thin. He had informed the CapitolCommissioners in1875, that unless $50,000 worth of improvements were made on the land by the state hewould revoke the deed. The commission had done nothing about his threat. Thus when itbecame apparent that Denver might lose the seat of government altogether, Brown on May 11,1879, filed a deed of revocation reclaiming his ten acres on the ground that the state hadbroken its part of the agreement.
