Current Concession Opportunities California State Parks is soliciting proposals for a 20-year contract to develop, equip, operate, and maintain a historic beach vacation concession including 2 restaurants and 13 overnight cottages at Crystal Cove State Park. Proposals will be accepted until 2:00 pm on September 21, 2005 at California State Parks, 1416 Ninth St., Room 1041, Sacramento, CA 95814. Two pre-proposal meetings will be held at 1 pm on July 12, 2005, and July 20, 2005 at Crystal Cove State Park Sector Office, Los Trancos Parking Lot, 6902 East Coast Highway, Newport Coast, CA 92657. Cal OCEAN: Tourism and Recreation Background Consistent with research methodology used by other State agencies, tourism is defined as leisure vacation travel requiring transit over 50 miles or an overnight stay. Recreation is defined as leisure activities in which participants travel less than 50 miles and do not require an overnight stay. Using these definitions, the California Research Bureau prepared an economic analysis of seven ocean-dependent industries , which determined that ocean and coastal tourism contributed $9.9 billion to the State's economy in 1992, making it the largest component of the seven ocean-dependent industries studied.
