Arkansas State Crime Laboratory - Frequently Asked Questions When an examination has been performed by the Crime Lab, a certificate of death is issued with the deceased when they are released to the funeral home, unless the death was pronounced out of state. A death certificate serves to certify that a death has occurred, and even if it does not have a specific cause or manner of death listed initially (“Pending”), it is still considered an official document and is registered at the County Health Department and sent to the State Health Department, Bureau of Vital Records. Copies of the death certificate can be obtained by families either from the funeral home or by contacting Vital Records directly (501-661-2336). Governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas The governor said state agencies, boards, commissions and their employees belong to hundreds of organizations. Because the state pays dues for membership, the state should get a return by hosting meetings, Huckabee said. "Conferences happen all the time, all over the country," he said. "We just think more of them should happen here." Agencies, boards and commissions will be required to submit a report each May 1 on how they're doing in attracting conventions, conferences and other types of meetings to the state. The governor said he's following the order. He has invited the Delta Regional Authority to hold its annual meeting in Arkansas. The DRA meeting will be Oct. 18-20 in Little Rock. Almost 400 people are expected to attend. Huckabee is the former state co-chairman of the DRA. ... [Read More]

Exports, Jobs, and Foreign Investment: Arkansas Note: Export-related jobs estimates include only jobs supported by exports of manufactured goods; jobs generated by exports of services and jobs sustained by direct exports of products from other non-manufacturing sectors (e.g., mining and agriculture) are excluded. Consequently, the numbers understate the total employment impact of exports on the U.S. economy. ... Caution: The Origin of Movement series allocates exports to states based on transportation origin, i.e., the state from which goods began their journey to the port (or other point) of exit from the United States. The transportation origin of exports is not always the same as the location where the goods were produced. Consequently, conclusions about "export production" in a state should not be made solely on the basis of the Origin of Movement state export figures. ... [Read More]
