Alaska's Wildlife Viewing at Pack Creek, Stan Price Wildlife Sanctuary, Alaska Department of Fish and Game Viewing Information: Access to Pack Creek is restricted; permits must be secured in advance. A one-mile trail through the woods leads to an observation tower on upper Pack Creek, a great photography site. Visitors must keep to this trail and a designated beach trail and sand spit. The bears are active in the summer and are most abundant in July and August when pink and chum salmon fill the creek.
