San Jose del Monte City, Philippines, The San Jose del Monte City (or simply San Jose) is a 3rd class city in the province of Bulacan, Philippines. It is bordered by Caloocan City and Quezon City, both in Metro Manila, on the south; by Rodriguez, Rizal on the east; Santa Maria and Marilao, both of Bulacan, in the west and Norzagaray, Bulacan on the north. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 315,807 people in 66,179 households. It has its own representative to the House of Representative having separated from the fourth district of Bulacan in 2004. The first congressman of the Lone District of San Jose del Monte is Cong. Eduardo Roquero, M.D.

HistorySan Jose del Monte was founded by the Spanish government in 1752, and was carved from its mother town, Meycauayan, because Meycauayan that time was thickly populated. It became a city in 2000 through the efforts of then-Congressman Angelito Sarmiento (who served as Secretary of Agrarian Reform in 2002 and presidential adviser on Agricultural Modernization; he is also a native of San Jose del Monte) and the local government of San Jose del Monte.
