Mauthausen, Austria Mauthausen is a small town in Upper Austria. It is located at 48° 14′ 31″ N 14° 31′ 01″ E, about 20 kilometers east of the city of Linz. Mauthausen has a population of 4,850 (2001). During World War II, it became the site of a German concentration camp complex. Approximately 122 000 people were murdered there.
