Villavicencio, Colombia Villavicencio is a city in Colombia, 4°08N, 73°40W, 75 km (about 1:45 mi) SW of Santa Fé de Bogota (DC), on the Guatiquía river, capital of Meta department with aprox 400.000 inhabitants. It is in a rural zone of tropical climate, in the great Colombian-Venezuelan plain called los Llanos lying at the east of the Andes mountains. It is also called "La puerta al llano" the door to the Llanos. As it has been historically the path from the interior to the vast savanas that dominate huge amounts of land between the andes range and the amazon rainforest. "Villavo" as it is commonly called is dominated by beautiful contrast of huge mountains and great plains and it clerly exemplifies the geo-diversity that Colombia has.
