Linyi, China Linyi (simplified Chinese: 临沂; traditional Chinese: 臨沂; pinyin: Línyí) is a prefecture-level city in the south of Shandong province of the People's Republic of China. Linyi is about 2400 years old. In the 1970s Sun Zi's Art of War was unearthed here. Linyi is between Xiazhuang and Tanyi. Linyi, an industrial city, is within a coal-mining area. Agriculture in surrounding areas has a focus on poultry.
