Dongguan, China Dongguan (Simplified Chinese: 东莞; Traditional Chinese: 東莞; pinyin: Dōngguǎn) is an important industrial prefecture-level city in the Pearl River Delta, in the Guangdong Province of southern China. Covering a land area of 2,465 km², the municipality has a registered population of 1,561,900 and a permanent population of over 6,400,000.
