Anqing, China Anqing is a city in the East of Central China in the South of Anhui province. The city had about 250,000 residents in 1991. Anqing is important for the trade in tea, which is planted on surrounding mountains. Anqing is twinned with Calabasas in California, USA.
HistoryThe city was founded by the Han dynasty in the second century BC. In the middle Ages it received the name of Anqing. From 1853 to 1861 it was held by the rebels of the Taiping rebellion. Several years later Anqing was a centre of weapon's industry.
