Feldkirch is a city in the western Austrian state of Vorarlberg, at 47°15′ N 9°35′ E, on the border to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Population was 28,604 in 2001. It is a beautiful medieval town with a castle from the 12th century called the "Schattenburg". In the town there is the cathedral of St. Nikolaus from the late Gothic period.
