Sunshine Coast, Australia

Australia's Sunshine Coast is the Queensland region north of the state capital Brisbane, running between Caloundra in the south and Noosa in the north. Other localities within the Sunshine Coast region include Mooloolaba, Alexandra Headland, Maroochydore, Buderim and Nambour. Typically Gympie 30minutes north of Noosa Heads and the Hinterland Region Blackall Ranges are also considered to be part of the Sunshine Coast.

The region is characterized by beautiful beaches, expansive coastal views and rich fertile soils in the hinterland. The Sunshine Coast produces many varieties of tropical fruit and nuts, and sugar cane.

There are many great and diverse attractions on the Sunshine Coast. To highlight a few; Steve Irwins famous Australia Zoo, Aussie World with the Ettamogah Pub, The Buderim Ginger Factory, Big Pineapple, Majestic Theatre are some that spring to mind. With many great sites to learn more information about the Coast (as its known to locals, Coasters). The local Sunshine Coast Tourism Board will assist you in getting here with another favourite My Sunshine Coast Life that has thousands of events and is packed full of information.

The Sunshine Coast is accessible by the Bruce Highway, or by CityTrain's North Coast Line with bus connections provided by Sunbus.

Youth Culture

Youth Culture on the Sunshine Coast is limited to a small number of facilities. The most popular of youth areas is the Sunshine Plaza, a large river-side shopping centre located in Maroochydore close to mouth of the Maroochy River. This is where many diverse groups gather for shopping, fun and entertainment with cinema complex and casual dining.

Due to it's proximity to the beach, the Coast has a strong Beach culture. Many surfers live on the coast, with beaches such as Mooloolaba famous for their cleanliness and large waves.
