Posadas, Argentina Posadas is the capital of the Misiones Province in the northeastern Argentina, yet on the southwest end of the province, some 1300 kilometers from Buenos Aires. Its population, including the surrounding areas, reached 285.000 inhabitants in 2001. It can be reached by bus fom different point of the country, as well as from Asunción in Paraguay, and Camboriú in Brazil. Flights to these destinations as well as to Buenos Aires and Corrientes depart from the local Gral. José de San Martín airport. Posadas is named after director of the Argentine Confederacy Gervasio Posadas.
